Our Bloodlines our breeding programme and the future

  Having completed phase one of our breeding programme which was to combine 2 crosses to Nureyev in our Bloodline, one coming from from Ricco and one from the dam Angrove dance girl, we were so lucky to achive this goal with our first foal as we bred a Homozygous Stallion Tobiano Stallion Angrove Spotted Dick.

It is a sad fact of life with a breeding programme that one has to move on to the next generation despite of emotional ties but each generation has to be an improvement on the previous generations. We have achieved this with our unique legacy 3 progeny that are Homozygous for the Tobiano gene that will be our bedrock for the future.

 Our Stallion Angrove Spotted Dick (2007) is now part of Phase two of our breeding programme. Quaility with a rare pedigree not found in any other sport horse breeding or TB breeding in the world

Angrove Dance girl had three Homozygous Tobiano siblings all to Ricco we line bred the two to produce 2 crosses of Nureyev and to breed for Tobiano Homogosity this now means we can guarantee the stamp and colour of our foals.

Her third progeny Angrove Arctic Roll 2009 is to move to France to Show Jump in the careful hands of Mette Campbell his new owner.

Ruby is the only daughter (DNA Verified by Weatherbys) of the prolific grade A show-jumping Gelding, Sarah's Pride, who was ridden by Carl Curtis winning the HOYS Puissance in 2004 jumping 6' 11" and holder of the Cavan High jump record jumping a 2 meter Vertical on a flat cup Sarahs pride covered Rubys Dam Sadie when he was three years old and was then gelded, he then went on to become a Showjumper and was then exported to the USA where he is still Show Jumping today we keep in touch with the farm that owns him, and we are very lucky to know the family that owned Sarahs Pride before he was sold to the US.

Angrove Dance Girls grandsire is Captain Maverick; with his sire being the all time great French race horse Nureyev.

Ruby has produced coloured Homozygous progeny: Angrove Spotted Dick  in 2007 and Homozygous Angrove Cherry Pie 2008, and Homozygous Angrove Arctic Roll 2009.

Northern Dancer is Nureyev's sire. Ruby's other grandsire is the fabulous racehorse and spectacular sire Gunner B. Angrove Dance Girl has wonderful conformation and 7 1/2" bone. Dancing Girl's career was to include being a  Advanced Endurance Horse & unafil dressage. 

 We were so lucky to have found a mare who not only is a outstanding mother and producer of 3 Homozygous foals she is the ONLY Child of a super consistant Showjumper who sold to the USA

Congratulatons on your recent run of horse DNA test colour results.
 As you are aware, the Tobiano Homozygous horse is a highly desirable breeding specimen,
 it has inherited the Tobiano gene and coat pattern from both parents,
and therefore when bred is guaranteed to produce 100% Tobiano patterned foals
 (Piebald or Skewbald) regardless of the mate.
 
Although the Tobiano Homozygous horse is not massively rare,
it is indeed sought after and often purpose bred.
 The case of your test results are however slightly more special,
 when two NON Homozygous horses are bred together, such as the parents of your foals,
 the offspring only have a 25% chance of being Homozygous themselves.
 It was a stroke of fortune that this happened just once, to happen twice in a row was certainly unsual,
 but to happen three times really is extraordinary. The likelihood of this happening three times was 1.56%.  
 
In simple terms, the odds of your non-Homozygous horses to breed three out of three true-breeding coloured foals,
 in a row, were 1 in 64.

Sarah's Pride beat the legendary Arko twice! He won the Cock of the North twice and the Horse of the Year Show Puissance in 2003, jumping 6ft 11".

With Carl Curtis, he went on to win the power and speed and the car all in the same week, and in the same year he won the High Jump at Cavan jumping vertical poles on flat cups 2 meters high - a record that remains unbeaten today. After his tremendous win he was sold to Blenheim Farms.

Sarah's Pride is by the same sire as Ricco, Captain Maverick. His grandsire is Nureyev and great grand sire, Northern Dancer. Sarah's Prides Dam is Bassetlaw by Gunner B, the famous sire of the 2002 Grand National winner Red Marauder, and 1992 Champion Hurdle hero Royal Gait, who died at the age of 30.
