An evenly marked piebaldtobiano, Ricco was bred at the Glencrutten Stud, by Mr Alan McKechnie, for his bloodlines and ability.

Ricco's well-known Sire was Captain Maverick and his Dam was owned by Sue Kennedy of the Honeypot Stud. Ricco's Grandsire, Zhivago, is the sire of Tullibards Shakespeare. Ricco isn't Dutch! No European bloodlines here, just the best thoroughbred breeding you can get: Captain Maverick, Chef-De-Race Nureyev and Northern Dancer, and that's just Dad's side!
